Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Police have ordered all liquor outlets in Jubilee Hills to remain closed during the by-election period. The directive covers wine shops, toddy shops, and bars attached to restaurants, including those in star hotels and registered clubs.
Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty issued the order on Thursday under Section 20 of the Telangana Excise Act, 1968. The rule will apply in areas under the Sanathnagar Police Station.

All shops must shut from 6 p.m. on November 9 until 6 p.m. on November 11. Moreover, the same rule will apply on counting day, November 14, from 6 a.m. until counting is complete. If a re-poll occurs, the closure will continue until the process ends.
The Commissioner said the decision aims to maintain law and order and ensure peaceful polling. He added that these steps are necessary to prevent disturbances during voting and counting.
The by-election for the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency will take place on November 11. Furthermore, the order follows Section 135-C of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, which mandates liquor restrictions during elections.
