Hyderabad: A 45-year-old man from Marredpally lost ₹13 lakh in a cyber fraud after downloading a fake app named “E CHALLAN RTO.APK”.
The app allowed the fraudster to access his HDFC bank account. Soon after, the victim noticed ₹13,00,896 missing through multiple unauthorized transfers. The scam didn’t stop there. The fraudster also took out a ₹12.5 lakh personal loan using the victim’s name. The loan amount was quickly transferred to an account named “payumanappuramfin”.
The victim also lost ₹50,700 from his own account. HDFC Bank confirmed the fraudulent activity and advised the victim to file a police complaint. Cyber Crime Police registered a case and started their investigation.
