ACB files custody petition against former ENC Hariram in corruption case

HYDERABAD: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has formally filed a Custody Petition Against Former ENC Hariram in the ACB court, seeking his police custody to gather further details in an ongoing corruption investigation.

According to reports, Hariram faces serious allegations of irregularities involving government funds and accumulation of disproportionate assets. Preliminary investigations have revealed evidence suggesting that the properties held by Hariram significantly exceed his known sources of income. In this context, the ACB petitioned the court, requesting his custody to facilitate further interrogation.

The petition filed before the court stated that rigorous questioning of Hariram was necessary to uncover the involvement of other individuals in the corruption network. Sources indicated that the ACB had already collected comprehensive details of Hariram’s properties but required additional investigation.

Meanwhile, Hariram’s legal counsel argued before the court that his fundamental rights should be protected and that he should not be subjected to unnecessary custody without solid evidence. After hearing arguments from both sides, the court scheduled the next hearing date.

It is noteworthy that under the ongoing anti-corruption drive in Telangana, several high-ranking officials have been booked, and the Custody Petition Against Former ENC Hariram is regarded as a significant development in this effort.

In the coming days, the court’s decision will determine whether the ACB will be granted extended opportunity to continue its investigation.
