CSIR-IICT industry meet promotes MSME tech adoption

Hyderabad: MSME tech adoption received a push after CSIR–Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT) held an industry interaction meet with Laghu Udyog Bharati in Hyderabad on Friday.

The programme aimed to strengthen collaboration between scientific research institutions and the micro, small and medium enterprises sector. The event took place at the Swami Vivekananda Auditorium on the CSIR-IICT campus.

Around 75 entrepreneurs from different industries attended the meeting. Participants represented sectors such as chemicals, active pharmaceutical ingredients, polymers, food processing, energy, and environmental technologies.

The Business Development and Research Management (BDRM) division of CSIR-IICT organised the event. The interaction focused on accelerating MSME tech adoption through collaboration between scientists and industrial entrepreneurs.

CSIR-IICT Director D. Srinivasa Reddy addressed the gathering. He said the institute remained committed to converting scientific research into practical technologies that benefit industry and society.

He also highlighted several indigenous technologies developed at the institute. These included the Hydrazine Hydrate process technology, API manufacturing processes, catalytic technologies for specialty chemicals, and biomethanation solutions for waste-to-energy applications.

According to the director, stronger cooperation between research organisations and MSMEs would accelerate innovation. It would also strengthen domestic manufacturing and support the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat.

MSME tech adoption focus during industry interaction

Scientists from CSIR-IICT presented several technologies and research initiatives during the interaction. These solutions aim to improve efficiency, sustainability, and competitiveness within the MSME sector.

Participants discussed how MSME tech adoption could help industries upgrade manufacturing processes and improve product quality. The presentations also explained how research-driven technologies could support cost reduction and environmental compliance.

Industry members explored several areas of collaboration with the institute. These included technology licensing, consultancy services, process optimisation, pilot-scale development, and joint research and development projects.

Representatives of Laghu Udyog Bharati also participated in the discussions. B. Anil Kumar, All India Working Committee Executive Member of the organisation, attended the meeting.

Pravin R. Likhar, Scientist-G and Chair of the Business Development and Research Management division at CSIR-IICT, also took part in the programme.

Officials said such engagements would help expand MSME tech adoption by linking industry requirements with scientific innovation and institutional research expertise.
