PG admissions declining despite CPGET-25 results
Despite a high pass percentage, enrolment in postgraduate courses continues to decline. Applications for CPGET have fallen, and many courses have more seats than qualified candidates.
For example, M.Com has 6,562 seats, but only 3,858 are qualified. M.Sc. Chemistry has 3,607 seats with 3,291 qualified. In M.Sc. Computer Science, 1,936 qualified for 2,950 seats. M.Sc. Mathematics recorded 2,070 qualified for 3,648 seats. M.Sc. Physics saw 1,122 qualified for 1,767 seats.
Officials said many candidates who qualify do not join, leaving a large number of seats vacant.
No entrance tests for seven PG courses
Due to poor response, TSCHE did not hold entrance tests for seven PG courses. These include MA Arabic, Kannada, Marathi, Persian, Theatre Arts, Electronics, and Sericulture. Seats in these courses will be allotted directly to applicants.
