Hyderabad: City Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar honoured a youth for rescuing an eight-year-old girl from danger and preventing a possible crime in Hyderabad.
He felicitated Mohammed Firoz at the old Police Commissioner’s office in Basheerbagh. Sajjanar presented him with a shawl, a commendation certificate, and a cash reward.
The incident occurred on April 1 when the girl was returning home from school in Abids. An auto driver, identified as Saleem from Mehdipatnam Hills Colony, lured her into his vehicle.

Further, the accused took the girl to an isolated location in Golconda and behaved inappropriately. Meanwhile, Firoz, who was passing by after leaving a mosque, noticed the child crying inside the auto.
He grew suspicious and immediately stopped the vehicle. When he questioned the girl, she said the driver was misbehaving with her.
Firoz confronted the accused, prompting him to abandon the girl and flee. He then informed the girl’s father using the contact details on her ID card.
At the same time, Abids police constables Saikrishna and Kedar Singh noticed the situation and rushed to Golconda. They safely brought the girl back and handed her over to her parents.
Police later arrested the accused on April 2, seized the auto, and sent him to remand. Sajjanar praised Firoz for acting responsibly and not remaining silent during the incident.
He said such timely intervention set an example for society. He also appreciated the constables for their prompt response in ensuring the child’s safety.
