Hyderabad: Covid-19 cases are on the upswing across India, with the total number of active cases climbing to 3,783, health authorities said on Saturday. Kerala leads the chart with 1,400 active infections, while Maharashtra follows with 485 and Delhi with 436.
In the past 48 hours alone, over 1,000 fresh cases have been reported nationwide, raising concerns among health officials.
According to the health department, 28 Covid-19-related deaths have been recorded since January. Alarmingly, 21 of these fatalities occurred in just the last two days. On Saturday, a 63-year-old man in Bengaluru succumbed to the virus, despite having received both vaccine doses and a booster. Delhi also reported the death of a 60-year-old patient.
Maharashtra and Kerala have each reported seven Covid-19 deaths so far, making them the hardest-hit states in terms of fatalities.
In response, the Karnataka government on Saturday issued a public advisory urging people to mask up in crowded spaces, maintain social distancing, and follow strict hygiene measures. Officials also advised anyone with symptoms, like fever, cough, chest pain, or difficulty breathing, to get tested immediately.
