Hyderabad: A sessions court in Nampally sentenced a man to 22 years of rigorous imprisonment in a POCSO case involving sexual assault of a minor.
The court convicted Sangam Manohar (20), a resident of Old Malakpet, in a 2021 case registered under the POCSO and SC/ST Acts. The case followed a complaint that he lured the victim with false promises.
Investigators said the accused repeatedly assaulted the minor over a period. He also recorded obscene photos and videos of the victim.

Further, police said he circulated the material among others and threatened the victim’s family. Therefore, the court examined the evidence and found him guilty under the relevant provisions.
The court awarded 22 years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of ₹5,000. In addition, it imposed six months of simple imprisonment in case of default.
Meanwhile, the court recommended compensation of ₹5 lakh to the victim. Officials said the verdict reflects a strict stance on crimes against minors.
