Cold wave grips Telangana as mercury dips to 6.6°C

Hyderabad: A biting cold wave continued to sweep across Telangana on Monday, pushing temperatures to season lows and disrupting normal routines in several districts.

The India Meteorological Department reported that Ginnedari in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district and Sangareddy recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 6.6°C. Adilabad followed at 6.8°C, while Vikarabad registered 7.8°C.

Kamareddy stood at 8.2°C, with Nizamabad, Medak, and Rangareddy each logging 8.4°C. Temperatures in Siddipet dropped to 8.9°C, while Nirmal and Sircilla recorded 9.0°C and 9.2°C respectively.

Cold wave Telangana tightens, several districts record sub-10°C temperatures

In Hyderabad, the cold wave intensified overnight. Hyderabad Central University recorded the city’s lowest temperature at 8.4°C. Rajendranagar registered 10.1°C, while Alwal and BHEL logged 10.6°C. RC Puram, Neredmet, and Chandanagar recorded between 12.2°C and 12.4°C.

Weather officials have warned that cold wave conditions may persist over the coming days.
