HYDERABAD, January 31, 2025: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy paid homage to the late revolutionary singer Gaddar on his birth anniversary. In a message released through the Telangana Chief Minister’s Office, he highlighted Gaddar’s contributions to the Telangana movement and his fight against societal inequalities and discrimination.
The Chief Minister recalled that Gaddar infused life into the Telangana movement with his pen and voice, standing as a vocal opponent against societal disparities. He also noted that the government has decided to officially observe Gaddar’s birth anniversary and establish ‘Gaddar Awards’ to be presented annually to poets, artists, and film personalities.
Gaddar, born Gummadi Vittal Rao, was a prominent figure in the Telangana movement, using his art to advocate for social change. His legacy continues to inspire many in the region.
The institution of the ‘Gaddar Awards’ aims to honour his memory and encourage contributions to the arts and social activism. The awards will be presented annually on January 31st, commemorating Gaddar’s birth anniversary.
The Chief Minister’s tribute underscores the enduring impact of Gaddar’s work and the state’s commitment to recognising those who contribute to cultural and social causes.
