Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy directed officials to prepare a comprehensive plan to develop Hyderabad as a national role model in sports and upgrade Gachibowli Stadium to global standards.
He held a review meeting with representatives of the Telangana Sports Hub to assess the stadium’s development plans. Revanth Reddy said the project aimed to transform the venue into one of the world’s finest sports facilities.
The meeting included Sports Hub Chairman Sanjiv Goenka, Co-chairperson Upasana Konidela, and members Kavya Maran and C Shashidhar. Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan and Sports Authority MD Soni Bala also attended.

Further, he announced that the government will lay the foundation stone for the project on June 2, Telangana Formation Day. He instructed officials to finalise a detailed action plan before that date.
He said the stadium must include world-class facilities, including a helipad. In addition, he directed officials to enable direct helicopter travel from the airport for sportspersons.
Meanwhile, he stressed that the project must ensure long-term financial sustainability. He added that authorities have already appointed an architect for the development works.
Revanth Reddy said the Sports Hub board will have full freedom to execute the project. At the same time, he said the government aims to strengthen sports infrastructure across the state.
He said facilities should meet standards required to host Olympic-level events in Hyderabad. Moreover, he directed officials to build infrastructure that surpasses international benchmarks.
He also suggested installing large screens to attract professionals and spectators. Officials will incorporate these elements into the final development plan.
