CM orders drafting of Core Urban Act for ORR zone

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday directed officials to draft a Core Urban Act to replace the existing GHMC law for three municipal corporations within the Outer Ring Road limits.

He said the new urban legislation must regulate permissions, fee structures and development works in the notified core zone. The proposed law will apply uniformly to all three corporations located within the ORR jurisdiction.

Core Urban Act to strengthen civic systems

The Chief Minister said the Core Urban Act should prioritise sanitation, road quality and streetlight monitoring in the designated area. He also called for tighter enforcement of food safety and fire safety norms under the new framework.

Further, he directed officials to bring all roads under the control of MAUD, including those currently maintained by the Roads and Buildings Department and other agencies. Meanwhile, he asked authorities to speed up construction of government offices in the proposed Future City.

Revanth Reddy also emphasised development and beautification of lakes and ponds within the urban limits. He instructed departments to prepare a coordinated infrastructure plan in line with the objectives of the proposed law.

Advisor to the Chief Minister Vemula Narendra Reddy, Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, Principal Secretary V. Seshadri and Secretary Manik Raj attended the review meeting. MAUD Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, HYDRA Commissioner Ranganath, HMDA Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed and MRDCL Managing Director E.V. Narasimha Reddy were also present.
