CM confirms Messi tour is private event, not organised by Telangana govt

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy clarified on Thursday that the state government is not organising the Lionel Messi India Tour 2025 event. It is scheduled at Uppal Stadium in Hyderabad on December 13.

Speaking to the media before returning from New Delhi, the Chief Minister said Messi’s visit is part of a private programme. It is hosted by a well-known organisation. He confirmed receiving an invitation to attend the event as a guest in his official capacity.

State to support event logistics, security for Messi’s Hyderabad visit

Reddy stated that the government would extend full support for the visit of a globally renowned athlete. He added that senior Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were also invited to the event.

Under the G.O.A.T India Tour 2025, Argentine football star Lionel Messi will be in India for three days. He will visit Kolkata, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and New Delhi between December 13 and 15.

After completing his Kolkata engagement on December 13, Messi is expected to arrive in Hyderabad for a football match. This will be with the Chief Minister at Uppal Stadium. In response to the high-profile visit, police have intensified security arrangements in the area.
