Chiranjeevi files new complaint with cybercrime police over abusive social media posts

Hyderabad: Tollywood megastar Chiranjeevi lodged a new complaint with Hyderabad Cybercrime Police, alleging that objectionable posts were being shared about him on social media. He named an X (Twitter) account that had uploaded abusive content without his consent.

Actor targets abusive online content

Officials said the actor approached police again after noticing fresh online attacks. Earlier, he had filed a complaint over the use of his name, voice, and photos in deepfake advertisements. However, Chiranjeevi said that despite a Hyderabad City Civil Court order, abusive posts were still appearing online.

He requested police to take firm action against those spreading such content. Accordingly, the Cybercrime team registered a case and started tracking the social media handle.

Court warned against misuse of celebrity identity

The Hyderabad City Civil Court recently prohibited anyone from using Chiranjeevi’s name, voice, or image for profit without consent. Moreover, it directed police to act against people misusing his identity for TRP or commercial benefit.

Meanwhile, cyber officials began collecting digital evidence to trace the offenders. Further investigation is in progress.
