Hyderabad: The Telangana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights conducted an inspection at the government girls primary school in Asifnagar following complaints over the absence of basic amenities.
Commission members Telangana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights Aparna and Vandana visited the school at Mallepally Seetharampet along with District Education Officer R. Rohini and other officials.
Asifnagar primary school inspection flags sanitation and safety gaps
The visit followed a representation submitted by the Telangana Education Development Foundation, which alleged that the Asifnagar primary school lacked electricity, safe drinking water, and proper sanitation facilities.
During the inspection, the members interacted with the complainant, teachers, and local community representatives. They also examined toilets, drinking water arrangements, and other infrastructure available for students at the Asifnagar primary school.
After the inspection, the Commission directed the DEO to immediately repair damaged toilets, arrange adequate drinking water, and ensure student safety as per prescribed norms. The DEO was also asked to submit an Action Taken Report to the Commission.
In addition, the members instructed the DEO to examine the feasibility of shifting the Asifnagar primary school to Gosha Cut High School, subject to consultation and consensus among local residents.
The Commission further directed both the complainant and the DEO to appear before its office on February 10 for the final disposal of the complaint.
