Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said the government introduced the HILT policy to prevent Hyderabad from turning into a polluted city like Delhi, while pushing ahead with major urban reforms.

Speaking in the Legislative Council during a discussion on Hyderabad development, the Chief Minister said the government would take up Musi cleansing along with construction of elevated corridors across the city. He added that these corridors would not require extensive land acquisition.

He urged opposition parties to support the government’s reform measures. At the same time, he called for cooperation in implementing key infrastructure projects.

Chief Minister seeks support for Musi cleansing plan

He said Musi cleansing had become urgent for the city. Therefore, he urged all parties to come together beyond political differences.

Recalling past examples, he said the Congress supported Sabarmati river cleaning in Gujarat. However, he questioned why political objections were raised over Musi cleansing in Hyderabad.

He said the government would accept constructive suggestions instead of resistance. If needed, he offered to form a committee of ministers to receive inputs from opposition parties.

He noted that people in the erstwhile Nalgonda district faced hardships due to the polluted river. According to him, those aware of the situation would not oppose the project.

Chief Minister assures relief to displaced families

The Chief Minister said the government would support all those displaced under the Musi project. He assured that authorities would not inconvenience affected families.

He said the government would provide better housing to those who lost homes. In addition, he said displaced women would receive support to continue their livelihoods.

He assured that the government would not cause losses to any individual. He also urged people not to get influenced by opposition campaigns.
