Hyderabad: The death toll in the Chevella road accident rose to 17 after an RTC bus collided with a tipper lorry near Mirzaguda village in Ranga Reddy district early Monday. The impact was so severe that both drivers and several passengers died on the spot.

The mishap occurred on the Hyderabad–Bijapur National Highway when a gravel-laden tipper lorry rammed into the RTC bus. Witnesses said the gravel fell into the bus, trapping many passengers under the debris. Rescue teams reached the site and pulled out the victims after several hours of effort.
Officials confirmed that 17 people had died, and they fear the number may rise further as some injured remain in critical condition. Traffic came to a halt on the highway for hours before police cleared the wreckage and reopened the route.
CM Revanth Reddy orders immediate relief measures
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar expressed deep shock over the loss of lives. The Chief Minister directed senior officials to reach the spot immediately and oversee rescue and medical operations.
He ordered the administration to ensure the injured receive the best medical care and sought regular updates on the situation. Revanth Reddy also conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and assured full government support.
