Central ministers offer prayers at Medaram Jatara

Hyderabad: Central ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Jual Oram offered prayers at Medaram Jatara during the Sammakka Saralamma festivities.

State ministers Seethakka, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, and Adluri Laxman Kumar accorded a ceremonial welcome with traditional drums. District Collector Divakar also joined the reception.

Temple priests and officials facilitated darshan for the central ministers at Medaram. Meanwhile, police enforced tight security arrangements to prevent any untoward incidents.

Medaram sees offerings, Centre assurances, and national status request

During the visit, Kishan Reddy offered 75 kilograms of jaggery to the deities at Medaram. Similarly, Jual Oram performed tulabharam by offering 86 kilograms of jaggery.

After the darshan, Kishan Reddy said the Centre had sanctioned special funds for this year’s Medaram Jatara. He added that the Modi government had enabled UNESCO recognition for the Ramappa temple.

He welcomed the new infrastructure works taken up by the state government at Medaram. Therefore, he conveyed the Centre’s appreciation for the arrangements.

He also said setting up a tribal university at Medaram would help tribal youth development. Subsequently, state ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Seethakka, and Adluri Laxman Kumar submitted a memorandum.

They urged the Centre to grant national status to Medaram Jatara. They also requested an early decision on the proposal.
