Hyderabad: CDFD National Science Day celebrations drew large participation as the Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics organised an Open Day for students from schools and colleges.
The institute opened its campus to young visitors and showcased ongoing research activities. Dr. Varsha Srivastava, Staff Scientist and event coordinator, welcomed participants and outlined the institute’s work in advanced biological research. She also highlighted the Government of India’s BioE3 Initiative and urged students to explore opportunities in biotechnology and innovation.
Students attended interactive sessions and engaged directly with scientists during the programme. The event aimed to spark curiosity and promote scientific thinking among young learners.
CDFD National Science Day features lab tours and an exhibition
As part of CDFD National Science Day activities, Dr. Shweta Tyagi, Staff Scientist and Group Leader of the Laboratory of Cell Cycle Regulation, delivered a talk titled “One Cell, Endless Possibilities — Just Like You”. She linked the complexity of a single cell to the potential within each student. The audience responded positively to the lecture.
In addition, the institute organised a science exhibition where students observed live demonstrations and interacted with researchers. Guided tours of advanced research laboratories gave participants first-hand exposure to cutting-edge scientific work.
The programme concluded with positive feedback from students and faculty members. Organisers said the initiative strengthened outreach efforts and encouraged greater interest in scientific careers.
