Hyderabad: With talk of a cabinet expansion gaining traction in Telangana, political jockeying within the Congress has begun to intensify, as various communities and factions step up their push for representation.
A day after a group of SC Madiga legislators convened to press for a berth in the state cabinet, Ramagundam MLA Raj Thakur has publicly expressed his desire to be included in Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s team.
Speaking informally to the media, the young legislator argued that he comes from one of the state’s most marginalised backgrounds and has served the party loyally across various wings. “I have the credentials and experience to take on ministerial responsibilities,” he said, adding that his request has already been conveyed to the Chief Minister.
Thakur also pointed out that he had earlier sought the position of working president within the party, signalling his ambition to take on larger organisational roles.
Meanwhile, the Madiga MLAs who met recently have already taken up their case with AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan. Alleging that the Madigas have been sidelines, the leaders demanded that the next cabinet expansion should reflect adequate representation for their community.
