Hyderabad: Land encroachments allegations were raised by the opposition BRS, which accused the state government of large-scale irregularities across multiple regions in Telangana.
At a press conference held at Telangana Bhavan on Tuesday, BRS state general secretary R.S. Praveen Kumar alleged that land encroachments were taking place in areas such as Nadergul and Pargi. He claimed that farmers were being intimidated and displaced.
The BRS leader alleged that the ruling Congress government misused power and acted in collusion with officials. He also urged youth to highlight the issue on social media and said the party would continue protests until justice is served.
Land encroachments allegations target top leadership
R.S. Praveen Kumar criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy. Praveen accused them of involvement in large-scale land grabbing.
He alleged irregularities in Nadergul land dealings and demanded that those responsible be arrested within 72 hours. He warned officials of legal consequences if action was not taken.
The leader claimed that public wealth worth Rs 7,000 crore was being misused instead of welfare. He remarked that the Chief Minister and the Revenue Minister should work as daily wage labourers if necessary instead of engaging in alleged land grabbing.
He further alleged that authorities ignored a High Court ruling. According to him, the court had declared that 374 acres of land in Nadergul belong to the state government. He claimed attempts were being made to grab this land by coercing officials.
Land encroachments allegations extend to multiple regions
R.S. Praveen Kumar questioned why police officials were not acting. Praveen alleged that a company linked to the Revenue Minister’s family was involved in encroachments.
He claimed that officials, acting in collusion with political leadership, were seizing government land. He listed several locations where alleged encroachments were occurring.
These included Lagacharla, Velugumatla, Kothwalguda, Nanakramguda, Pargi, Regadi Doswada, Hilt and Moosi areas. He reiterated that the party would continue to raise the issue until action is taken.
