Hyderabad: A Borabanda mother suicide incident left a five-year-old boy dead and his two-year-old sister critically injured in Peddamma Nagar under Borabanda police station limits.
According to police, Satyavani and Murali Venu lived in Peddamma Nagar in the Borabanda area of Hyderabad. The couple had two children, Rudransh, aged five, and Tanvika, aged two.
Police said Murali Venu had taken his father to a hospital on Saturday afternoon for dialysis treatment. During that time, Satyavani allegedly took the extreme step following family disputes.
Investigators said she first attempted to kill her two children by strangling them. The Borabanda mother suicide incident unfolded inside the family’s residence.
Rudransh died at the spot. Meanwhile, Tanvika suffered serious injuries and was found in critical condition.
Borabanda mother suicide under police investigation
Family members and neighbours noticed the situation and rushed the child to a hospital for treatment. Doctors were treating the girl, who was reported to be fighting for her life.
After receiving information, Borabanda police reached the house and began preliminary inquiries into the Borabanda mother suicide case.
Police shifted Satyavani’s body for post-mortem examination. The body of the deceased boy was also moved for post-mortem procedures.
Investigators said they were examining the reasons behind the family dispute. They were also looking into the circumstances that might have led to the Borabanda mother suicide.
Police said it was a tragic incident involving the death of a child and serious harm to another. Officials added that people facing mental stress should seek help and counselling instead of taking extreme decisions.
A case has been registered and further investigation into the Borabanda mother suicide is underway.
