BJP’s Ramchander Rao slams CM Revanth Reddy over Muslim vote remarks

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP President N. Ramchander Rao on Wednesday lashed out at Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over his recent remarks targeting the Muslim electorate, accusing the Congress party of indulging in divisive and appeasement politics.

Addressing reporters in Hyderabad, Rao said the Chief Minister had claimed that Muslims owe their survival and respect in society to the Congress. He said such remarks exposed the Congress’s reliance on religion-based vote bank tactics. “This is a dangerous attempt to stoke communal divisions for political gain,” Rao said.

“Congress ignoring Hindu sentiments”

Rao accused the Congress of seeking the support of the 20% Muslim population while ignoring the sentiments of the 80% Hindu majority. “Is this your version of secularism?” he asked. He warned that the public would deliver a strong response in the Jubilee Hills by-election.

He challenged Revanth Reddy to openly admit if he only wants Muslim votes and disregards Hindu voters. “The 80% Hindu population in Telangana is watching closely,” Rao said.

“Muslims deserve empowerment, not appeasement”

Rao said the BJP believes in justice for all communities, including Muslims, through education, employment, and economic empowerment—not vote bank politics. He accused the Congress of historically viewing Muslims only as a voting bloc.

He also condemned alleged threats by the Chief Minister, where voters were reportedly warned that they could lose ration cards, fine rice, and free bus services if they didn’t support Congress. “These are undemocratic threats and an insult to voter freedom,” he said.

“BJP will win Jubilee Hills by-election”

Rao asserted that the BJP stands for unity and national interest, unlike the Congress which he said thrives on appeasement. He expressed confidence that BJP would secure victory in the upcoming Jubilee Hills by-election.
