BJP MP Raghunandan Rao faces fresh threats over anti-Maoist drive

Hyderabad: BJP MP Raghunandan Rao has reported fresh threats linked to Operation Kagar, with callers warning him to withdraw from action against Maoist groups.

According to police, unidentified persons rang him using two different numbers, threatening to eliminate him if he continued with the operation. Callers claimed five teams had been deployed by the Andhra Pradesh Maoist Committee and were already active in Hyderabad. They warned him their location could not be traced as they were using internet-based calls, and vowed not to spare him.

Rao earlier received a similar threat on June 23 and filed a complaint with the State DGP, Medak and Sangareddy SPs. Following that, the state government assigned him an escort vehicle and extra police protection.

The MP, recovering from leg surgery at Yashoda Hospital two days ago, received new threats again on Sunday. He lodged another police complaint from the hospital in response.
