HYDERABAD: Following the recent MLC election, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate, Gautam Rao, has raised serious allegations after losing to the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) candidate. He claimed that the outcome was politically manipulated and lacked fairness.
Speaking to the media, Gautam Rao alleged that BJP supporters were deliberately prevented from voting, which he said unfairly benefited the AIMIM. He called for the Election Commission to conduct a thorough investigation into the entire election process.
The BJP candidate accused the ruling authorities of misusing government machinery to create a biased atmosphere favouring a particular party, stating that such actions undermined the democratic process. He added that he intends to challenge the result in court.
AIMIM has not yet issued an official response to the accusations. However, party workers dismissed the allegations, saying the victory reflected the will of the people and demonstrated the popularity of their candidate.
Political analysts noted that AIMIM’s success in the MLC election underscores its growing influence in Hyderabad’s urban political landscape. They also warned that BJP’s move to contest the result could intensify political tensions in the coming days.
