BJP celebrates International Women’s Day in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Telangana unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party organised International Women’s Day BJP celebrations in Hyderabad on Friday, highlighting women empowerment initiatives taken by the Central government.

BJP Telangana State president N. Ramchandra Rao attended the programme as a special guest. Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj participated as the chief guest, while Mahabubnagar MP DK Aruna joined the event as a special guest.

Addressing the gathering, Ramchandra Rao said women in the country were receiving greater respect and opportunities under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He said the concept of “Nari Shakti” represented a national mission linked to nation building rather than merely a political slogan.

Rao said earlier there were situations where the birth of a girl child was discouraged. He added that in some cases girl children were even killed in the womb.

However, he said the International Women’s Day BJP programme also recognised the impact of the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign launched by Prime Minister Modi.

According to him, the campaign helped create social awareness and encouraged families to protect and educate girl children.

Welfare schemes highlighted during International Women’s Day BJP event

Ramchandra Rao said the Modi government had implemented several welfare schemes aimed at improving the lives of women.

He stated that the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana enabled crores of poor households to receive LPG connections.

As a result, he said kitchens in many homes had shifted from smoke-filled cooking to cleaner gas-based cooking.

He added that reduced household air pollution improved the health conditions of women across the country.

Rao also referred to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, saying the scheme enabled crores of poor families to own permanent houses.

He noted that many houses were registered in the names of women beneficiaries, helping strengthen their financial security.

The BJP leader also said women were increasingly entering various professions. According to him, women today were driving buses, running businesses and leading organisations.

He highlighted that Draupadi Murmu became the country’s first tribal woman President with BJP support.

Rao also said Nirmala Sitharaman had served as India’s first woman Defence Minister and currently holds the position of Union Finance Minister.

Political representation discussed at International Women’s Day BJP event

During the International Women’s Day BJP celebrations, Ramchandra Rao also referred to the Women’s Reservation Bill passed by Parliament.

He said the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam provided 33 percent reservation for women in Parliament and State Assemblies.

The BJP leader said the legislation had been pending for decades before the current government secured its passage.

He added that the decision marked a major step towards political empowerment of women in India.

Rao also said women were playing an increasing role in national security and defence.

According to him, women officers had taken leadership roles in several operations, reflecting their growing presence in the armed forces.

He also said BJP-ruled States were implementing schemes such as Ladli Lakshmi Yojana to provide financial and educational assistance to girls.

Such initiatives, he said, were helping guide girls towards greater empowerment and opportunities.
