Hyderabad: Bhavani Nagar Police arrested four men for robbing ₹40 lakh from a local resident and recovered ₹34.66 lakh along with other stolen items. The robbery took place on November 30, and the arrests followed on December 4 after a coordinated operation with the South Zone Task Force and local police stations.
The accused Syed Irfan (30), Mudassir Alahi alias Shaik Sahil (19), Mohd Zahid (37), and Mohd Abdul Rahman (25) are all residents of Talabkatta. According to police, Mohd Zahid informed his associates that the victim, Mohd Sultan, had kept ₹40 lakh in cash for a house purchase. They then conspired to carry out the robbery.

The gang entered the victim’s house before dawn. They tied him up, assaulted him, and stole the cash, a mobile phone, and a Suzuki Burgman scooter.
Following the heist, Irfan kept ₹20 lakh and handed ₹4 lakh to Rahman for safekeeping. Sahil took ₹15 lakh, and Zahid kept ₹5 lakh.
Subsequently, investigators traced Sahil using CCTV footage and a UPI transaction made at a petrol station. This led them to identify and apprehend the other suspects. Although the accused spent part of the stolen amount, police recovered ₹34.66 lakh in total.
Notably, Irfan has a criminal history with four prior cases recorded at Bhavani Nagar Police Station between 2014 and 2025.
DCP South Zone Khare Kiran Prabhakar led the operation. Officers from the Task Force, Mirchowk, and Rein Bazar police played key roles. The department announced that all personnel involved in solving the case will receive formal commendations.
