Bhatti Vikramarka holds emergency meeting on Kancha Gachibowli land dispute

HYDERABAD: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka convened a high-level meeting with senior officials on Friday to review the controversial land allotment issue in Kancha Gachibowli, following strong remarks from the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court recently expressed sharp disapproval of the state government’s decision to regularise 100 acres of land in just three days. The court has ordered a halt to any further activity on the disputed land until the next hearing.

In response to the judicial observations, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy formed a special committee to examine the matter. The committee includes Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, along with Ministers D. Sridhar Babu and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.

This committee has been tasked with holding discussions with all stakeholders to seek a resolution. The stakeholders include the Executive Council of the University of Hyderabad (HCU), student bodies, the Joint Action Committee, and civil society organisations.

During the review meeting, Bhatti Vikramarka sought a detailed briefing from Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari and senior officials from the Forest and Revenue departments. He instructed them to provide comprehensive data and legal background regarding the land regularisation process and past decisions linked to the area.
The Deputy Chief Minister emphasised the importance of resolving the issue in a manner that respects the Supreme Court’s directives and ensures transparency in governance.
