Hyderabad: The Telangana government announced GHMC reorganisation as part of its urban strategy, proposing to split the civic body into three corporations to improve governance and service delivery.
Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, while presenting the budget speech in the Legislative Assembly on Friday, said the GHMC reorganisation would create Greater Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Malkajgiri corporations. He stated that decentralisation would improve accountability and speed up public services. The move aims to ensure better planning and balanced development across regions.
Alongside this, the government unveiled the Bharat Future City project as a major infrastructure initiative. The city will be developed over 30,000 acres with modern planning and sustainable systems. Officials said it would feature advanced transport networks and green energy solutions.
The government expects Bharat Future City to emerge as a major economic hub. It aims to attract global investments and support long-term urban growth. Connectivity will be strengthened through new highways and transport links connecting the city to key regions.
Urban infrastructure development also forms a key part of the plan. The government is expanding water supply systems, sewage treatment plants, and road networks. These upgrades aim to bring Hyderabad’s infrastructure in line with global standards.
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Board is increasing capacity through new reservoirs and treatment plants. Officials said this expansion will address rising demand as the city grows.

The GHMC reorganisation is also linked to broader sustainability goals. The government is promoting underground cabling, electric vehicles, and pollution control measures. These steps aim to improve urban living conditions.
