HYDERABAD: Contract Assistant Professors at the Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT), Basar, staged a protest on Thursday demanding the immediate withdrawal of Government Order (G.O.) 21 and the regularisation of their services.
The protesting faculty members boycotted their duties and demonstrated outside the university premises holding placards and raising slogans against the state government.
They alleged that G.O. 21 undermines their job security and career prospects, and called upon the government to recognise their long-standing services by granting them regular status.
The protestors maintained that they have been contributing to the university for years under precarious conditions and insisted that it was time their services were formally acknowledged.
Their agitation comes amid growing concerns across the state about the conditions of contract faculty and staff in higher education institutions.
