Baba Fasiuddin threat claim triggers political row in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Congress corporator Baba Fasiuddin issued a threat claim on Tuesday, stating that followers of the late MLA Maganti Gopinath posed a danger to his life. Moreover, he said an anonymous letter reached him recently and pushed him to approach the DGP. Because of this development, he filed a formal complaint seeking verification of the sender.

During his briefing, Fasiuddin remarked that Congress candidate Naveen Yadav should have secured a fifty-thousand vote majority in the Jubilee Hills byelection. However, he alleged that covert groups inside the party blocked the margin. The disruption, he argued, weakened the campaign at a crucial stage. According to him, the threat he now faced came largely from supporters of Maganti Gopinath.

Seeking additional safeguards, he asked police to provide security for his family. The letter, he noted, carried no details about the identity of the writer. Its contents referred to personal issues, and he believed the sender intended to link any future crisis to him. Consequently, he accused the person of attempting to damage his reputation.

In his view, some individuals dealing with financial stress or personal disputes were trying to shift blame onto him. Furthermore, he said this pattern increased the intensity of the threat. Because the situation continued to escalate, he urged police to act with urgency. He also argued that the internal sabotage seen during the byelection aligned with the hostility directed at him now.
