NEW DELHI, February 8: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has lost his New Delhi Assembly seat to BJP candidate Parvesh Verma. Kejriwal was defeated by a margin of over 1,200 votes, marking a significant setback for the AAP leader.
In another major loss for AAP, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia faced defeat in the Jangpura constituency, where BJP’s Tarvinder Singh secured victory by a margin of over 600 votes. Sisodia, a key figure in the AAP government, had been a close aide of Kejriwal and played a crucial role in the party’s education and governance reforms.
The results indicate a major shift in Delhi’s political landscape, with BJP securing key victories over AAP’s top leadership. These defeats come amid a highly contested election where BJP aimed to capitalise on AAP’s recent challenges.
