Hyderabad: Anti-war rally March 29 was announced by the Committee Against War, which condemned the escalation of global conflicts and rising civilian casualties. The group called for an immediate halt to violence and urged peaceful dialogue.
The Committee held a meeting at Maqdoom Bhavan on Wednesday to discuss the worsening global situation. Leaders including M. Kodandaram, Prof. Vishwanath, Narayana, former MP Aziz Pasha, Syed Nizamuddin and Lubna Sarovarh attended the session. Representatives from CPI, CPI(ML), trade unions, religious groups and civil society organisations also participated.
Members strongly condemned the loss of innocent lives, including school children. They expressed concern over actions that violated humanitarian principles and international law. According to them, such developments reflected a dangerous escalation of violence.
Anti-war rally March 29 to mobilise public opinion
The Committee said war does not benefit nations or people. Instead, it results in loss of life, economic damage, environmental harm and long-term social distress. Therefore, it called for collective efforts to promote peace and prevent further escalation.
In this context, the Committee announced the anti-war rally March 29 to raise public opposition to ongoing conflicts. It urged all parties involved in conflicts to pursue dialogue and peaceful resolution mechanisms.
Anti-war rally March 29 backed by outreach and seminars
As part of mobilisation efforts, the Committee will organise outreach meetings across different sections of society. These include youth, women, university students, civil society organisations, trade unions and professional bodies. The aim is to build public awareness and strengthen support for peace initiatives.
The Committee also plans to hold a seminar involving intellectuals and civil society representatives. The session will examine the impact of war and stress the importance of adhering to international norms.
Additionally, members decided to prepare and distribute pamphlets as part of a wider awareness campaign. They said the material would highlight the consequences of war and the need for peaceful solutions.
A delegation will meet the Leader of the House and floor leaders of political parties. It will urge them to introduce and pass a resolution against war in the Assembly. The Committee said such a move would send a strong message supporting peace across the country.
The Committee appealed to all sections of society to unite in support of peace, justice and humanity. It reiterated that the anti-war rally March 29 would serve as a platform to amplify this message.
