Anti-drug awareness programme held at Delhi Public School Bowrampet

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) on Saturday conducted an anti-drug awareness programme at Delhi Public School, Bowrampet, Miyapur, aimed at sensitising students about the dangers of narcotic substances.

Inspector G.S. Daniel from H-NEW addressed the students, warning against the increasing instances of drug abuse in educational settings. He said drugs are being disguised as candies and chocolates to target schoolchildren, leading to severe health and academic consequences.

Daniel explained how drug use impairs mental and physical health, reduces cognitive ability, and can ultimately be fatal. He also outlined the legal consequences of drug possession and consumption, urging students to avoid peer influence and friendships that encourage substance abuse.

Vice Principal Raina Bhatt and Senior Head Mistress Sharmila Ganapthi appreciated the police initiative, stating that such programmes equip students with the awareness needed to resist harmful influences and make healthier choices.

Sub-Inspector C. Venkata Ramulu and Constable Md. Imran from H-NEW also participated in the event.
