Hyderabad: The Punjagutta police on Saturday arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting and murdering a woman near Ameerpet earlier this week.
According to police, the incident occurred on October 23 near Sri Satya Tiffin and Meals Centre in Greenlands, Ameerpet. The victim, identified as Lisa (30) from Assam, was found lying dead with injuries on her body. Potamachetty Pandu, who runs a nearby tea stall, alerted the police, who shifted the body to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem.

Post-mortem findings confirmed that the woman had been raped and murdered. Based on CCTV footage and mobile signal tracking, police identified the suspect as Y. Reddappa (38) of Enamallapalli village, Nallacheruvu mandal, Anantapur district.
Investigators said Reddappa gave the woman liquor before sexually assaulting her and later killed her to destroy evidence. Police arrested him on Saturday and produced him before court for remand.
