HYDERABAD: The Karimnagar unit of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) led a large-scale protest on Saturday against the controversial Waqf Amendment Bill, drawing hundreds of participants from various minority communities including Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, and others.
The demonstration took place at Geeta Bhavan Chowk in Karimnagar town, with members of several Muslim organisations turning out in significant numbers to oppose the legislation. Protesters wore black badges as a sign of resistance and raised slogans condemning the Union government, accusing it of acting against the spirit of the Constitution.
Speakers at the protest described the Waqf Amendment Bill as unconstitutional and detrimental to the rights of minorities. They demanded that the central government withdraw the amended Act immediately, warning that the agitation would continue until the legislation is repealed.
AIMPLB leaders present at the demonstration reaffirmed their commitment to defending constitutional values and minority rights, vowing to escalate the movement if necessary.
