Hyderabad: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Tuesday announced that AIIMS Bibinagar is on track for full completion by year-end. After reviewing construction progress at the site, he confirmed that 86% of the work has been completed and that the hospital will be fully functional by December 2026.
The 750-bed facility, spread over 202 acres, is being built at a cost of ₹1,110 crore. Of this, ₹831 crore has already been spent. Kishan Reddy highlighted that Bibinagar is the only “Brownfield AIIMS” in the country, making it a unique institution in India’s healthcare landscape.
Emergency services running, student intake growing
Emergency medical services have been operational since January 1. The institute currently provides 220 beds for patient care and handles around 1,800 outpatient visits per day. At present, 880 students are enrolled across MBBS, nursing, and specialty programs. Supporting infrastructure includes undergraduate and postgraduate hostels, with 24-storey hostel towers under construction.
The Minister added that treatment under Ayushman Bhava and Arogya Sri schemes will remain free, while nominal charges will apply for other patients.
To enhance accessibility, plans are underway to establish a railway station and an MMTS stop near the campus.
