ACB traps Forest Range Officer in ₹15,000 bribe case

Hyderabad: ACB trap led to the arrest of a Forest Range Officer in Boath after he accepted a ₹15,000 bribe for clearing a pending payment under a government scheme.

Officials caught T. Pranay, Forest Range Officer, Boath Range, while he accepted the bribe through Junior Assistant S. Parshuram at his office. He demanded the amount as a reward for extending official favour.

The officer allegedly sought the bribe to clear a pending cheque of ₹5.09 lakh. The payment related to water supplied by the complainant for the Haritha Haram project under the MGNREGS scheme.

ACB trap exposes bribery in the payment clearance process

ACB officials conducted the operation after receiving a complaint and laid a trap. They caught the officer while accepting the amount and took him into custody.

Officials reiterated that citizens can report bribery demands through the Anti-Corruption Bureau’s toll-free number 1064. They also said complaints can be lodged through WhatsApp, Facebook, and the official website.

The agency assured that it will keep the identity of complainants confidential.
