Hyderabad: The ACB registered a case against a Sub-Inspector for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe in Nagarkurnool district.
Officials said Chalamalla Hari Prasad Reddy, Sub-Inspector at Thimmajipet Police Station, demanded ₹30,000 from a complainant. He sought the amount to release the complainant’s younger brother’s seized vehicle.
ACB books SI for bribe demand and acceptance
According to officials, the officer later accepted ₹20,000 as part payment on March 12. He took the amount to carry out the official favour of releasing the vehicle.
Following the complaint, ACB officials registered a case and began further investigation. Subsequently, they initiated steps to proceed as per the law.
The bureau urged citizens to report any demand for bribes by public servants. People can contact ACB through the toll-free number 1064 or via WhatsApp and other platforms.
Officials said they would keep the identity of the complainants confidential. They assured strict action against those involved in corruption.
