Hyderabad: Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials conducted surprise inspections at multiple check posts across the state late Saturday night, targeting border zones flagged for alleged illegal cash collections.
The raids, conducted in light of prior complaints and the ongoing election alert, took officials to check posts in Sangareddy, Narayanpet, and Bhadradri Kothagudem districts. The sudden inspections left staff shocked, as ACB teams arrived unannounced around midnight.
At Chiragpally mandal’s Madgi check post in Sangareddy district, officers seized ₹43,300 in unaccounted cash allegedly collected from drivers. ACB teams discovered the cash during their verification process after staff failed to produce proper records.
In Narayanpet district, ACB officials carried out similar midnight inspections at check posts along the Karnataka-Telangana border. They seized ₹30,000 in unaccounted cash there as well.
In Bhadradri’s Ashwaraopet region, the ACB inspected another check post and reportedly recovered additional cash. These raids followed complaints that private staff had been collecting bribes from passing vehicles under the pretext of checks.
Officials said the operation was part of an intensified pre-election vigilance effort. The ACB has not yet disclosed how many personnel may face action.
