20 private agents arrested in ACB raids on Khammam transport office

Hyderabad: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials arrested 20 private agents during extensive raids on the Khammam district transport department office, as part of a corruption probe that entered its second day on Saturday.

Led by Khammam ACB DSP, the searches lasted nearly 20 hours and targeted agents allegedly involved in illegal fee collections for services such as vehicle registration and license issuance. Officials also searched the residences of transport department staff as part of the operation.

During the raids, ACB teams seized various documents, registration certificates, licenses, and ₹78,000 in cash from the accused agents. The arrests follow growing allegations of systemic corruption and bribery within the district transport office.

According to sources, the inspections began on Friday afternoon in response to complaints about illegal payments being collected for routine services. The ACB is expected to continue its investigation and may take further action based on the evidence gathered.

The operation underscores the bureau’s intensified efforts to crack down on corruption in public service offices across Telangana.
