Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught an Assistant Sub-Inspector while accepting a bribe in Chaitanyapuri under the Malkajgiri Commissionerate.
Officials said Poosala Balaiah, ASI at Chaitanyapuri Police Station, demanded ₹15,000 from a complainant. He sought the amount to alter case sections and facilitate a compromise in the Lok Adalat.
ACB traps ASI for bribe demand
ACB officials conducted a trap and caught the officer while accepting the bribe. Subsequently, they initiated legal action against him.
Officials said the accused demanded money to extend an official favour in a criminal case. Therefore, they registered a case and began further investigation.
The bureau urged citizens to report any demand for bribes by public servants. People can contact ACB through the toll-free number 1064 or via WhatsApp and other platforms.
Officials assured that they would keep the identity of the complainants confidential and take action as per the law.
