Hyderabad: Cyberabad Traffic Police cracked down on drunk driving over the weekend, catching 306 people under the influence across various locations.
During the special drive, officers seized 246 two-wheelers, 9 auto-rickshaws, 50 cars and one heavy vehicle. The checks revealed that 274 offenders had blood alcohol levels ranging between 35 mg and 200 mg per 100 ml. Another 26 tested between 201 mg and 300 mg. Six drivers were found with levels as high as 301 mg to 500 mg.
All violators are set to appear before the court.
Police issued a stern warning – those involved in fatal accidents while drunk will face charges under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The offence carries up to 10 years in prison and a fine.
