Hyderabad: The Telangana transport department booked 219 private buses for various violations. This occurred during special enforcement drives conducted from January 7 to January 12.
According to an official release, cases were filed for carrying goods and failing to maintain passenger lists. Additionally, buses were also booked for not keeping first-aid kits on board. The department deployed eight inspection teams across Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts. It also issued directives to all regional offices across the state.
Private buses booked for violating travel norms
Amid the Sankranti travel rush, transport authorities warned private operators against overcharging and operating buses as stage carriages. Officials added that guidelines for sleeper bus operations would be issued soon.
The department also plans to inspect sleeper buses registered in other states but operating in Telangana. Strict action will be taken against vehicles found violating registration norms.
