Hyderabad: The Housing Department has cancelled 1,950 Indiramma house allotments after a verification drive exposed large-scale irregularities in beneficiary selection. The move follows a department-wide review that found serious discrepancies during the sanctioning phase.
According to officials, the initial survey for identifying eligible beneficiaries was marred by widespread errors. The flaws came to light when billing and payment stages were scrutinised, revealing several ineligible individuals among approved recipients.
Thousands more ineligible beneficiaries remain within the sanctioned list, the department said. Letters have been sent to district collectors instructing them to revoke such allotments and reassign them to eligible applicants.
