Hyderabad: The South Central Railway will begin dismantling the old foot over bridge at Hyderabad’s Nampally railway station from December 20, citing public safety and operational concerns.
The dismantling work will continue until December 23. The over 50-year-old structure, located on the Begumpet side of the station, connects Red Hills with Public Garden. It does not serve the station’s platforms but crosses several railway yard lines.
Railway officials said the bridge had been declared structurally unsafe due to severe deterioration. Its continued presence posed risks to both train movements and pedestrians.
Unsafe structure to be removed over four days
Authorities confirmed that the dismantling will take place under strict safety protocols. All relevant departments will coordinate to ensure smooth operations. Train services may be regulated during the process, and the public has been asked to cooperate.
Officials also expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure.
