Hyderabad: UNICEF India’s Chief of Child Protection, Mr. Jairus Ligoo, visited the Bharosa Center in Hyderabad during a field tour and commended its integrated services for women and child safety. He described the model as a leading example that could guide both developing and underdeveloped countries in building effective protection frameworks.

Speaking after his visit, Ligoo described the Bharosa Center as “a great demonstration of how children and women’s safety in modern cities can be enhanced,” adding, “It is a right, not anything else. Bravo!” He noted that the coordinated efforts between stakeholders, including the Hyderabad police, set a high standard for victim support services globally.

He also toured the Child Friendly Court and appreciated its design and function. He highlighted the urgent need to replicate such infrastructure and services in other parts of the world to strengthen child protection mechanisms.

Dr. Lavanya NJP, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Women Safety), Inspector G. Manjula of Bharosa, and Center Administrator Ms. Mary Augustine, along with the Bharosa team, briefed the UNICEF delegation on the center’s operations, inter-agency coordination, and victim support approach.

The Bharosa Center, established by Hyderabad City Police, provides integrated assistance to women and children affected by violence, including legal, medical, psychological, and police support under one roof.
