Hyderabad: TPCC president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud on Thursday criticised BRS MLC Kavitha over her letter to AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, calling it strange and contradictory. He questioned whether Kavitha had written as a representative of Jagruti or on behalf of BRS.
Goud said Kavitha’s letter was an embarrassment, arguing she had remained silent on BC issues during ten years of BRS rule. He challenged her to produce any record of speaking on BC reservations while in power, alleging she had no moral standing to now champion their cause.
He maintained Congress alone ensured social justice, citing 42 percent reservations for BCs, SCs, and STs in local bodies, education, and health sectors. Goud reminded that it was Congress that gave houses under Indiramma and had transferred ₹9,000 crore to farmers in nine days through Rythu Bharosa.
Addressing reporters, Goud urged for the success of the “Samajika Nyaya Samara Bheri” event scheduled Friday at Lal Bahadur Stadium, where AICC chief Kharge would address about 40,000 participants, including village, mandal, district presidents, ministers, MLAs, MPs, and corporation chairpersons.
He said Kavitha’s recent BC bill agitation was only an attempt to remain politically relevant and accused her of shedding crocodile tears while ignoring women’s issues for a decade. Goud alleged that the BRS had cheated all sections of society, lacked the right to ask for votes, and should first explain its own record before staging protests.
On Banakacharla, Goud challenged BRS to respond to the questions posed by Revanth Reddy, accusing BRS leaders of compromising on water sharing with Andhra Pradesh in the past.
He further commented on Anirudh Reddy’s statements, saying the PCC disciplinary committee was examining them, and criticised the BJP for failing to appoint a BC leader as its state chief.
Goud declared that social justice could only be secured through Congress and appealed to make Friday’s rally a success.
