HYDERABAD: In a setback to several IPS officers, the Telangana High Court has refused to grant a stay on the single bench verdict in the ongoing Bhudan land case. The division bench expressed displeasure over the officers approaching it directly instead of allowing the single bench to conclude the matter.
The IPS officers had appealed for an interim stay on a previous order that directed the inclusion of lands owned by 27 officials in the prohibited category under Bhudan regulations.
The division bench questioned the rationale behind bypassing the ongoing single bench hearing and advised the petitioners to return there for further proceedings.
Reiterating that the final decision rests with the single bench, the High Court concluded the hearing on the petition filed by the IPS officers.
The case relates to allegations that lands donated under the Bhudan movement—meant for redistribution to the landless—were unlawfully held by senior government officials.
