Hyderabad: A fire broke out at Krish Inn Restaurant in SR Nagar late on Wednesday, officials said. The blaze, suspected to have been triggered by a short circuit, erupted on the ground floor of a five-storey building located just a short distance from the SR Nagar traffic police station.
Fire personnel rushed to the spot after being alerted by restaurant staff and managed to bring the flames under control. Panic spread among occupants on the upper floors as smoke filled the building. Firefighters evacuated the residents safely before the fire could spread upwards.
No injuries or casualties were reported, according to officials.
Incidents of fire accidents have been disturbing Hyderabad frequently, raising concerns over poor fire safety standards. Many multi-storey apartments, factories, and shopping malls are still operating without minimum safety equipment, despite heavy investments. Substandard electrical wiring during construction has been blamed for repeated short circuits.
Experts advise replacing wiring every 15 years, maintaining a panel sketch, and installing automatic trip switches. They also stress adequate earthing for connections exceeding 10 kVA. Neglecting these norms, they warn, could result in heavy damage and even loss of life during fire mishaps.
